BCHS had a much cleaner, sharper routine at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic Saturday en route to a second place finish.

(Photo contributed.)  The BCMS Competition Cheerleaders made their season debut Saturday morning at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic hosted by Houston County High School.  They finished second place in the small school division.  The Barons will beat Mary Persons High School Oct. 3 for the Cheer Dawg Classic.  It starts at 3:30 pm.

BCHS lost at home to Dublin 27-21 in a game they arguably should have won.

The high school girls.                     The BCMS and BCHS Cross County teams had their yearly two-mile night race Thursday evening at the BCHS track.  All four teams won first place.  Three of the four teams had the top individual.  Jasper Faulk for the middle school boys, Brody Gibbs for the high school boys, Lily Farrell for the high school girls.  All four teams will be in action October 1 at the Bleckley County Invitational which will be held at the cross country course behind Bleckley Elementary.  Races start at 4 pm.

Zoey Adams and Alaysia Coley each had three hits as BCHS won at Crawford County 11-1 Thursday afternoon.  Adams was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI.  Coley went 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI>  Sarah Vaugh got the pitching win giving up 0 earned runs over five innings with 3 hits.  She also 2 for 3 with a double.  Natalie Fordham was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.  Bleckley will make up their previously postponed game at Dublin September 28, start time is 5:30 pm.

To mark the 25th anniversary, Middle Georgia State University faculty, staff, and students have been doing various service project for Knights Serve for 9/11 Day.   There were service projects held across all five campuses.  On the Cochran campus, a free waterless car was was held for first responders in front of Gateway Hall.  First responders also received refreshments and handwritten thank you cards.   As stated on the flyer promoting the event, 9/11 day was chosen because Americans came together after 9/11 through acts of service and compassion.  The other goals included giving back to the community and honoring first responders as well as those lost.  Knights Serve for 9/11 Day is supported by a national grant from the 9/11 Day nonprofit organization and AmeriCorps. The grant program supports K-12 schools, colleges and universities in organizing volunteer projects for the National Day of Service and Remembrance, an annual observance established to transform the memory of September 11 into a day of unity [...]
