With the end of the school year, it was time for the Board of Education to pass the FY24 budget to be prepared for next year. That was part of Tuesday night’s monthly meeting.

According to meeting minutes, there was no public on the proposed FY24 budget. On recommendation by superintendent Dr. Trey Belfower, it was passed unanimously. The final budget will be on the table at the June 13 monthly meeting. There will also be another time of public comment before the vote.

In an update on the primary school, Belflower said handicap entrances had been installed and were operational. They were waiting on permanent door hardware for some of the doors. On recommendation from Belflower, the board passed a resolution stating, “for labor, materials, and services for the construction of Bleckley County Primary School have been paid in full and there are no outstanding claims.”

There was a comprehensive policy review involving Business Management, Long-Range Facilities Planning, and Personnel. There were no requests to amend any of the policies.

As part of the consent items, the board passed the Bleckley Elementary Student Handbook. It can be found here then clicking on “consent items.” https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=4014&MID=109753

State champions from the boys and girls track teams were recognized. Each received a certificate and Daylight Donuts Gift Card.
