The Bleckley County Board of Education met in regular session April 16. Updates to board personnel, the meeting calendar, and personnel moves from the executive session came from the meeting.

Chair Amy Williams asked to step down from her position as chair. She nominated Vice-Chair Shanna Evans as chair. Evans nominated Williams as vice chair. The recommendation was approved.

Also approved were changes to the board meeting dates calendar. They can be seen below.

From the executive session: The board accepted the resignation due to retirement of assistant superintendent Lara Rowland, effective at the end of the school year. Transferred from Success Academy Teacher to Bleckley Elementary Assistant Principal for the FY25 school year was Phillip Hart.

Teresa Gray was promoted from BCSA teacher to teacher/assistant principal. Wanda Knight was promoted from Student Services Administrative Assistant to BOE Administrative Assistant.

Pending a background check, Scott Pagano, was hired as a BCHS Teacher. He is also listed on the updated FY25 Athletic Staffing Plan as BCHS Defensive Coordinator. Alicia Jenkins will be the new BCHS basketball squad cheer coach.

The position of middle school soccer assistant coach, previously listed as being held for FY25 by Randolph “Fort” Halstead, is now listed as blank.
