The Bleckley County Board of Education held their monthly meeting Tuesday night. There was action on some items, including the FY24 budget.

The tentative FY24 budget was approved unanimously. There was an opportunity for public comment but there was no one in attendance who wished to speak. Another opportunity for public comment will take place before the final budget is voted on June 11.

The board approved an agreement with the state Board of Education to operate the district as a Strategic Waiver School. A Strategic Waiver School allows smaller school districts to exempt themselves from some state standards such as class size and salary scale requirements.. There are specific requirements in the contract to be a Strategic Waiver School and penalties for non-compliance.
