BCHS began their final preparations for the upcoming season by scrimmaging Hawkinsville at Bobby Gentry Stadium Friday night. The Royals lost six starters on defense, five on offense, due to graduation.

A big hit.

There were highlights from both the offense and defense in about three quarters played by the varsity. Josh Stanley, Jr. scored four touchdowns. Three rushing, and one touchdown catch.

The defense struggled in the first half, giving up three touchdown runs, including an 89-yard run. But in the third quarter, they broke what was a 21-21 tie with a fumble recovery for touchdown.

January Elvine holds up the ball after recovering a fumble.

They also stopped another potential Red Devil drive when January Elvine recovered a fumble on the Royal 20. It led to an eventual touchdown run by DQ Benjamin.

A tackle.

By the fourth quarter, reserves were playing for both teams. The Royals will scrimmage Wilcox County at home August 9. Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
