Several Royals are in on the stop.

BCHS looked to get back on the winning track Friday night at East Laurens. The Falcon defense had given up 66 points at Dublin the previous week. While the Royals didn’t score that many points, they had little trouble with the team from the east side, especially after a dominant first half.

The student section had a patriotic theme in honor of Labor Day.

It took less than three minutes for the offense to score, the first coming on a short touchdown pass to Nykez Farrow. An attempted onside kick was recovered by East Laurens at their own 44.

Tyerk Mack with a catch.

Two plays later, the Falcons were on the board thanks to a 58-yard touchdown run. The point after missed and it’d be the closest EL got the rest of the evening.

On their second possession of the second quarter, Bleckley drove from their 33 to the Falcon two. With six minutes left, Dequavis Benjamin scored as the lead grew to 21-6.

Tug Pasby is among the players in on the stop.

The Falcons fumbled on their next possession, Isaiah Simenton recovered it at the EL 37. Tyerk Mack caught a fourth down pass to keep the drive alive. He also caught a seven-yard touchdown pass with a little over two minutes left in the half and it was 28-7.

BC went for another onsides kick, this time it was recovered by Zyion Love at the Falcon 28. On fourth and goal, Deondrez Robertson scored from a yard out as time expired. It was 35-6 Royals at halftime.

The only second half scoring came in third when Brody Fleming completed a 58-yard flea flicker (I couldn’t see who the double pass was with) to Love. BC did recover a fumble late in the third but missed a 20-yard field goal in the fourth. The Royals picked up their first region win, 42-6.

Josh Stanley, Jr. did not play. Tyrek Mack had a big game on both offense and defense with 99 yards receiving on seven catches as 5.5 total tackles, 4 solo. Kam Everett went 15 of 21 for 164 yards and two scores as well as having 18 rushing yards.

Robertson had 10 carries on 47 yards, Benjamin nine carries on 45. Landry Nobles had five total tackles, four solo.

It will be Homecoming when Bleckley hosts Southwest September 6. Kickoff is 7:30 pm with the Queen’s Court presented at halftime.
