The Bleckley County Board of Education held their first meeting of 2026 Thursday evening. As it was the first one of a new year, officers were selected.

Shana Evans was again named board chair. Brandon Keel (not in attendance due to work but had said he was willing to be co-chair) was again named board co-chair. Phillip Leser volunteered to be and was chosen as legislative liaison.

The only other item of note was the monthly review of board policy. Policies in Section G, personnel were discussed. There was a clarification of the language in policy GBC but it was decided to leave any potential changes on the table until next month’s meeting.

The current plan for February is the meeting will be held on February 19 in the high school auditorium. Special recognition will take place including recognizing state Beta club winners and teachers of the year..

Meeting start at 5:30 pm.
