BCHS resumed region play Tuesday afternoon against Washington County. The Royals and Golden Hawks split last year’s series with each team winning at the other’s home field.
Brody Fleming
Bleckley trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth, Brody Fleming’s double tied the game. Waco took an 8-5 lead in the sixth thanks to a groundout and two-run home run.
Walker Boatright
A dropped fly ball in the home half got BC within one. After a scoreless top of the seventh (only the second inning where the Golden Hawks were held scoreless), BC staged a big rally.
Thomas Evans
It began with the first two batters being walked. A throwing error on Casey Finch’s bunt scored the game tying run. The next batter was walked intentionally, the next hit into a fielder’s choice.
Caleb Foskey
Gavin Cole came to the plate. He’d already homered in the first inning. On a 3-1 count, Cole blasted a ball over the left field fence for a walk-off grand slam and a 12-8 win for the Royals.
Teammates await Gavin Cole as he comes home after hitting a walk-off grand slam.
Cole was 2 for 4 with 6 RBI. Fleming was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Walker Boatright was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. He also struck out eight in five plus innings pitched. Caleb Foskey went 1 for 2 with a double.
The region series and home and home series with Washington County concludes March 12 in Sandersville. JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.
