Former Royal Mims chosen 18th in NFL draft.

Former BCHS and UGA Offensive Tackle Amarius Mims was chosen 18th by the Cincinnati Bengals in round one of the 2024 NFL Draft. Said BCHS Head Coach Von Lassiter, "We are really proud and excited for Amarius. Cincinnati got a really good player and an outstanding human!" Mims is the first BCHS football player to be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Former BCHS Golfer enjoying success in college.

(Photo contributed.) Former BCHS Golfer Ty Cranford has been continuing his career at Truett McConnell University. Yesterday, the team won their second straight Appalachian Athletic Conference championship at Barnsley Gardens Golf Club in Adairsville. The win qualifies the team for the NAIA National Championship that will be held May 21-24 in Dalton. Cranford was named to the All-Conference Team for his combined play in both the Fall and Spring Championships.

KOHR Kowboys continue to ride high.

(Photo contributed.) The KOHR 7u Kowboys travel baseball team continued their hot start with their third straight tournament win Saturday in Dublin. KOHR went undefeated again. The Kowboys return to action April 20 in Carrolton.

(Photo contributed.) The KOHR Kowboys 7u baseball team picked up their second straight top finish at Perfect Game's "King of Coach Pitch" played this weekend in LaGrange. They won the championship game 14-7. The Kowboys will be at Southern Pines this weekend.

Opening Night ceremonies at rec. department postponed.

Opening Night for spring ball scheduled for March 22 at the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department has been postponed due to the threat of rain. Regular season games begin March 25. According to a Facebook post announcing the postponement, opening night ceremones will be rescheduled for another day.

Local travel team rides high to top finish in tournament.

(Photo contributed.) The KOHR Kowboys 7u baseball team went undefeated en route to winning the “Turn 2’s, Pot of Gold” tournament played Saturday at the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department. The team is owned by Tucker Darsey and is coached by JC White, Will Hinson, Blake Nobles, and Michael Maddox. The win brings the team overall record to 152-55 with 26 championships. KOHR will return to action this weekend in LaGrange.

Fireworks show to be part of spring ball Opening Night.

Opening night for spring baseball, softball, and T-Ball will be February 22 starting at 5:45 pm. A fireworks show will follow conclusion of the games at approximately 8:30 pm.
