Middle Georgia State University athletic director Michael Brown has helped a university transition from NAIA to NCAA before. He discussed his previous experience as well as MGA's move in an email interview.

Cranford chosen as USFTCCA state girls coach of the year.

The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their Coach of the Year awards for each state. Runnin' Royals girls coach Shelly Cranford was chosen as girls coach of the year for Georgia. The girls won their second straight state title this past November. Click the link to see the list. Just a quick note to apologize for things being slow. There's not been a lot of news happening and I don't want to run middle school basketball scores from Thursday without having scores from both teams. Though I am still moving quite slowly because of my health problems within the past year, I am trying to keep the site updated with any local news or happenings.

Members sworn in at City Council meeting.



At the first city council meeting of the year held Tuesday night, three members were sworn in. New members Lonnie Tedders, Jr and Shane Savant along with returning council member Gary Ates. Carla Coley was chosen as mayor pro tem. Also at the meeting, the date of the Feburary regular meeting was changed from February 13 to 6 to satisfy an advertising requirement for an upcoming SPLOST so that it can appear on the May Balot.
