Georgia DOT to suspend construction-related lane closures for July 4 holiday.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced construction-related lane closures would be suspended on all interstates and state routes from noon July 3 through 10 pm July 5. According to a relase, the move is being made to to ease potential congestion, reduce delays, and increase safety for motorists across the state due to the holiday. Drivers are reminded that crews may still be working, and some closures may remain in place for safety or emergency reasons.

Georgia DOT to convert Allentown intersection into four-way stop.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that the intersection of US80SR 19 and GA 112 in Allentown would be converted into a four-way stop on July 15. According to a release, crews will install red flashing lights, stop bars, and stop signs, on US 80. The red lights, stop bars, and stop signs on GA 112 will remain. Drivers are advises to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed while traveling through the work area. The release also notes that the work schedule is subject to change depending upon the weather.
