GDOT to restrict construction-related lane closures for Fourth of July weekend.

To alleviate Fourth of July weekend traffic, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced it would suspend construction-related lane closures on interstate highways and limit lane closures that directly serve major tourist and recreation centers starting at noon on July 2 going through July 5 at 10 pm. As per usual, the department reminds motorists that crews may still work in close proximity to some highways, and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures to remain in place. Also, incident management or emergency-related lane closures could become necessary at any time on any route.
