Mobile Food Pantry in Cochran June 25. ***Updated hours***

A mobile food pantry will be in Cochran June 25 from 11 am to 1 pm. It'll be set up behind the Chamber of Commerce on Third Street. Supplies are limited, first come, first serve. Drive up, stay in vehicle to pick up food. The pantry is sponsored by Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, Communities in Schools/Family Connection of Cochran-Bleckley County, the Cochran Bleckley Chamber of Commerce, and the Cochran Downtown Development Authority.

Called BOE meeting Thursday.

There will be a called meeting of the Bleckley County Board of Education on June 25 at 6 pm in the board meeting room, 242 East Dykes Street. A tweet by the school district states the meeting's purpose is to approve repairs to the BCMS car rider line and any other business that comes before the board.

DDA, former coach helping make downtown beautiful.



If you've been downtown the past couple of days, you might've seen some of the sidewalks being pressure washed. The Cochran Downtown Development Authority authorized the project to help improve the area. You also might've seen American flags lined up along the sidewalk. Those flags honoring both current and former members of the military are a project started by former BCHS football coach Sam Barrs.

Old high school track closed.

As part of the primary school construction project, fencing recently went up around the old high school track. The track will remain closed during the demolition and construction process. Once the new school is completed, it will be reopened, rescaled smaller, as a community park.
