The racers raced on at Cochran Speedway.

Though the coronavirus has knocked out pro sports and thrown high school sports into disarray, the race weekend at Cochran Motor Speedway has gone on as scheduled. A large crowd was on hand for the world championship makeup races that were postponed due to rain December 28 of last year. Before the races began, longtime CMS employee Willis Wombles was recognized for 55 years in short track racing, seven at Cochran Speedway. He’ll be retiring at the end of the year. Tomorrow will be The Cochran Clash. Gates open at noon, driver’s meeting at 2 pm with races to follow.

First half goals power Royals past Montgomery County.

The Royals soccer game against Montgomery County was the only high school sporting event to take place Friday night. Those who came saw BC take a 3-0 first half lead thanks to two goals by Charlie Williams and a goal by Skyler White. Treg Corner's goal with a little over six minutes left iced a 4-1 win. The next scheduled games for both teams are March 16 at home against Washington County at 5 pm. Also, with Dodge County suspending sports for two weeks, BCHS will now make up the West Laurens games that had been set to be played April 1 on March 17 in Cochran.

Royals fall in extra innings to Mary Persons. ***Updated***

This tag by J.R. Fordham to end the top of the eighth helped keep the score tied 4-4.
BCHS and Mary Persons were tied at four going to the ninth inning Thursday night. But the strain of three games in four nights plus a (presumed) region game with Dodge Friday night put a strain on the pitching staff. The Bulldogs exploded for 12 in the ninth to win 16-4.
