New art exhibition opening in MGA Peacock Gallery November 18.

A gallery talk and opening reception for the Dan Stepp Art Exhibition "South of Eden" will be held November 18 at 6 pm inside Middle Georgia State University's Peacock Gallery located on the first floor of Russell Hall. The exhibition will be on display through January 17, 2020. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and 8 am to noon on Fridays (excluding university holidays.)

Middle Georgia State University continues to see enrollment growth as it posted the third highest percentage increase for fall among all University System of Georgia Schools.

BCHS basketball played home scrimmage games versus Peach County Tuesday night. Alyssa Fortune had 13 points and Tesa Taylor added 11 in the Lady Royals 45-43 win. The Royals lost 75-59. Ethan Hulsey had 13 points. Shontavian Manuel scored 12 points. Amarion Blackshear had 11 points, and DJ Sanders scored 10 points. Bleckley opens the regular season November 16 at home versus Veterans at 1 pm.

Girls fall, boys edge East Laurens.

BCMS girls soccer lost to East Laurens 1-0 on a goal with less than a minute left. The boys won 2-1 on penalty kicks. Will Holloway had a goal and made the one penalty kick for the Barons. BCMS hosts Jeff Davis Thursday at 3:30 pm.

GHSA Reclassification Committee sets regions for 2020-22.

The GHSA Reclassification Committee met Tuesday to set regions for 2020-22 as well as hear appeals from schools wishing to play in different classifications. BCHS was placed in 3-AA with the following schools: Dodge County, Lamar County, Monticello, Northeast, Southwest, and Washington County. Regions aren't final as appeals of schools wishing to make lateral transfers to different regions as well as schools who were denied their request to move up from Class A to AA will be held November 19.
