(Submitted by HOSA Reporter Kimberly Chatham)Bleckley County High School HOSA officers attended Officer Jump Start Training held July 17 at ABAC in Tifton. Students went through leadership training to prepare them for their roles as officers in the coming school year. HOSA provides training to all school chapters. Portion of Cook Road to close August 12 for Middle Georgia State move in day.

Move in day for the Cochran campus of Middle Georgia State University is August 12. Because of the expected increase in foot traffic, Cook Road will be closed from Sixth Street to Ann Street starting at 8 am and lasting until 4 pm. According to an email from MGA Campus Police Chief Shane Roland, the closure is to allow students the freedom to unload their vehicles and bring them safely across Cook Road. He said MGA Police will be directing traffic so as to minimize delays and other incidents. Roland also added they’d be working with both the Cochran Police Department and Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office during the closure with their main objective being the safety of the students and community members.
