Georgia DOT suspending lane closures for July 4 weekend.

To help ease traffic during the July 4 holiday, the Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending construction-related lane closures on interstate highways, heavily traveled state routes and roadways near major tourist and recreation locations. The restrictions start July 3 at noon and last through 10 pm July 7. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution as crews still may work in proximity to highways and some lane closures may have to remain due to safety concerns. Also, incident or emergency maintenance lane closures could take place at any time on any interstate or state route.

World series bound: 8u baseball wins Dixie Youth State Title.

The 8u all stars were back in action Saturday, looking to win Cochran Bleckley Rec Department’s first state title since moving to Dixie Youth Baseball. A 16-4 win against Taylor County put BC into the title game.
Their championship game opponent was a rematch against Wrens. A five-run third blew open what was a 2-1 game. But Bleckley would only score once more, an RBI groundout in the fifth. Wrens loaded the bases in the sixth with no outs, but Bleckley would hang on to win the Division II Coach Pitch State Tittle 8-4. They advance to the world series July 26-30 in Rustin, Louisiana.
