BCHS softball tryouts May 6-8.

Tryouts for the 2019 Lady Royals softball team will be held May 6 through 8 from 3:30-5:30 pm at the high school softball field. All participants must have an updated physical in order to try out. Call (478)230-1892 for more information.

Despite blowing a 7-1 game one lead and stranding 10 runners in game two, BCHS found a way to beat Metter twice in Wednesday's opening round playoff series.

Boys track wins region, girls third.



(Photos courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor) BCHS boys track won the 3-AA title Wednesday at Thompson Stadium. The girls finished third. Sectionals will be May 4 at Ben Hill County Middle School in Fitzgerald.

Krispy Kreme Donut sale will help send FCCLA, HOSA, students to nationals.

Bleckley County High School FCCLA and HOSA are selling Krispy Kreme donuts and vouchers to raise funds for student trips to national competitions this summer. Cost is $6 for glazed or a voucher redeemable at any Krispy Kreme nationwide, $7 for chocolate glazed. Orders are due by May 10, delivery May 13. Girls golf wins region title, boys golfer qualifies for state.

BCHS golf traveled to the Applewood Golf Club n Waynesboro Tuesday for the Area 3 golf tournament. Area 3 is made up of team from regions 3 and 4-AA. Led by freshman Lucy Wiegert’s 79 and Brooke Krieg’s 80, the girls won area and the 3-AA title, qualifying for state. Wiegert was region low medalist and had the lowest core in 3-AA. Krieg’s was second lowest.


Ty Cranford shot an 80 for the boys, finishing as region low medalist and qualifying for state. The team finished third in region. Head Coach Dave Wiegert said he was excited to see the hard work pay off for his players. He added “The girls especially are really starting to put everything together here at the right time of the season. I couldn't be prouder of all these kids!" The AA state tournament will be May 20-21 at Oak Mountain Golf Club in Carrollton.
