Friday morning, a ceremony was held on the courthouse square designating next week as “Middle Georgia State University Week.” Both Mayor Carla Coley and County Commissioner Mike Davis signed proclamations marking the occasion. A game of Bingo to promote literacy at Bleckley Elementary.



It was a fun night of literacy and food as Bleckley Elementary held “Bingo for Books” Thursday evening. Children could win books via a Bingo game ran by Chamber of Commerce staff. They also enjoyed a free slice of pizza and a bag of chips. The Book Fair was open for shopping. Students could also pick out a free book on their way out.

Tennis teams win at Dublin.

BCHS Tennis picked up a pair of region wins at Dublin Thursday afternoon with the girls winning 5-0, the boys 4-0. Bleckley travels to Valdosta this weekend for the Viking Tennis Invitational hosted by Lowndes High School.

Royals thump Hawkinsville to sweep season series.

Walker Boatright and Brody Fleming each had three hits as BCHS swept the season series versus the Red Devils with a 14-1 win at Hawkinsville Thursday night. Boatright was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Fleming was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Jay Johnson was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Caleb Foskey was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Casey Finch went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.. Noah Woodard and Thomas Evans each went 1 for 2. Region play resumes March 10 versus Washington County. Game time is 5:45 pm.
