A time of fun for the community.

The Bleckley NAACP held a �Unity in the Communities� event Saturday at Tabernacle of Testimony. Designed to �do something nice for the community,� there were games for prizes as well as pickup basketball and badminton. No one went hungry as there were free hot dogs and chips meals handed out.

Sheriff's Department names new chaplain.

Dykes is pastor of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Cochran, where�s been behind the pulpit for 25 years. Annual event seeks to help students "tune in" to the voice that matters.

Friday evening began a time of discipleship for students in Bleckley and neighboring counties as D-NOW (Discipleship Now) held their opening session Friday night at First Baptist Church. There were ten churches from Bleckley, Dodge, and Pulaski Counties in attendance for the start of a weekend full of worship, small group sessions, break out sessions, as well as some fun and food along the way. This year�s theme is �Frequency: Tuning in to the Voice that Matters.� Worship was led (and will be over the weekend) by the Middle Georgia State Baptist Collegiate Ministry Worship Band. The weekend�s guest speaker is Mitch Norman from First Baptist Church in Winder. His first message was about tuning in to the frequency of God, no matter how He might speak to you. Thee will be sessions tomorrow morning and evening, and one more Sunday morning.

High School Sports
Soccer teams fall at Dooly County.

It was a tough night for BCHS soccer as both the Lady Royals and Royals lost in overtime to Dooly County. Ellen Arnold and Elyce Potts scored in the girls 3-2 loss, Makenzie Perkins had an assist. The boys game went to penalty kicks as the Royals lost 3-2. Riley Lawson had both regulation goals. Harrison Rodgers, Zack Gilbert, Will Dean, and Greyson Arnold all made penalty kicks. Bleckley plays at Dodge County March 25. Girls start at 5:30 pm with boys to follow.
