(Photo and proclamation contributed.) A proclamation signing ceremony for the Bible Reading Marathon was held Thursday afternoon at First Baptist Church. The ceremony was attended by many community members and leaders and religious leaders; This will be 23rrd Annual Bible Reading Marathon. Opening ceremonies will be held May 1 at 6 pm on the courthouse square. Former school superintendent Dr. LC “Buster” Evans will be the featured speaker. Closing ceremonies will be held May 7, the National Day of Prayer.

Soccer teams split regualr season finale.

The Lady Royals lost to Jones County 4-0 Thursday afternoon. Jana Tomilin recorded 14 saves, Jalycia “Cupcake” Stanely had seven The Royals won via penalty kicks 5-4. Regulation goals came from Will Dean, two from Landon Smith, and a penalty kick from Harrison Rogers. Overtime penalty kicks came from Jonah Kelly, Will Dean, Alex Gillis, and Greyson Arnold. Playoffs begin next week, details are TBD.

Royals cruise past Bulldogs to end regular season.

Gavin Cole went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI as BCHS easily won their regular season finale at ECI 12-2 Thursday afternoon. Lane Sapp was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI. Jay Johnson was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Noah Woodard and Casey Finch were 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Walker Boatright was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI. Bleckley will open the state playoffs at home April 24. Details are TBD.

Middle School Sports
Boys golf wins region, girls finish runner up.


(Photos contributed.) The MGMSAA Region Golf Championships were held Wednesday in Swainsboro. The BCMS boys team won region. Harrison McDaniel was low medalist, shooting a 41. The girls finished runner up to West Laurens. Ty Cranford is the coach for both the boys and girls golf teams.
