A large group of supporters, including some BCHS cheerleaders and parents, crowded into the premium viewing area at East Laurens High School as the Barons prepared to take the mat. They were the first of eight schools to compete.

Fans began the chant of “Bleckley County” as AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” played. BC was soon called to the mat. What fans saw was a great performance by the squad.

High energy. All stunts stuck. Good motions, good jumps, good tumbling. It was an all-around great showing on the mat. The girls hugged each other afterwards as they knew they’d done their best.

There was a lot of excitement when it was time for results. BCMS was announced as region runner up. There was a large cheer from the squad as well as supporters. They missed first place by two points.

Head coach Becky Wilson said she was proud of the squad and said ,“We left it all on the mat.” She also noted they had the highest score of the season. Congratulations to the squad and coaches on a great one.
