Finances discussed at rec. board meeting.

Members of the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department board attended the August 7 city council work session. They were there to ask for a 75/25 split of the next SPLOST payment.

They also attended to ask the council to provide specific numbers going forward so the rec. board could budget properly. The matter came up during Monday’s monthly rec. board meeting. City manager Richard Newbern was there to answer any questions regarding the SPLOST.

His only comments on the matter in terms of funding were that in the past, the council would ask if the county had provided its funding. One point of frustration made by board members was their impression that the council didn’t understand that funding the rec. department benefits all city council districts since the rec. department serves all residents, city and county.

The vote on funding for CBRD is scheduled to take place during tomorrow night’s meeting. It’s at 6 pm in the city auditorium.
