Why there may not be photos from soccer 8th grade recognition.

For those of you who aren't aware, the way recognition is done is to have all the players and parents line up on the field, coaches walk to each player to recognize them. I am moving slowly as I still require a cane to get around. I didn't know this would be happening and I'm sorry. I will hopefully at worst have a listing of those recognized but apologize the section probably won't be more in depth.

I finally have correct info regarding rec. board meetings.

The listings I've had for rec. board meetings (including today's) have been incorrect because I'd lost touch with the rec. department due to other things happening. I wanted to pass along updated/accurate info. Meetings of the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department board are held on the second Monday of each month at 5 pm.

The memory card mishap strikes again.

For the second time this week, my camera failed to recognize the memory card that was in it. I didn't discover this fact until halftime Friday night when the game was well in hand. I missed touchdowns, recognition of the cross country teams, recognition of the competition cheerleaders, all because my memory card screwed up. While I have plans to replace the card, it doesn't bring back the photos missed tonight. Being honest, one of the reasons why I was late posting anything tonight was due to being depressed about the memory card mishap. In any event, I apologize to you for the issue.

The drop-in reception held this afternoon for Middle Georgia State's new athletic director Michael Brown was advertised by a misunderstanding on my part. It wasn't supposed to be a public event. I apologize to the university and to my readers for the confusion.

Weekend coverage to come slowly.

It's a busy weekend with lots going on tonight in Cochran and things tomorrow both locally as well as cheer competitions. I am asking for your patience now regarding this weekend. I am going to try to cover cheer tomorrow in Loganville, then come back and do other work after I rest. I probably won't have time nor energy to update the football game tonight. Between the senior night sections plus cheer, it's not certain if I will have the energy to cover any of the multiple Halloween events tomorrow. I apologize in advance.

Why the BOE meeting article hasn't shown up.

I was in attendance at last Tuesday's Board of Education meeting. Some of the items discussed would be listed in Simbli/EBoards. I've been trying to wait for it to be updated so I could reference it in the article. As an FYI from the meeting, the board did pass a final millage rate of 14.1, the same as last year's.

Community calendar updates, coverage plans this weekend.

I hope you're continuing to check the site community calendar. Sometimes information changes, sometimes I have to go back and add/change things. But I am making every effort to keep it updated and hope it can be a resource so people can know what's going on and when. Due to physical therapy Thursday & local events happening, I don't see myself being able to get to the East Laurens game Thursday night. For that I'm sorry. I am going to *hopefully* be on hand Friday afternoon for awards at region one act. And I will hopefully get to cover middle school cheerleading for the first time Saturday at East Laurens.

I don't know about the logistics of going to West Laurens.

I would like to cover Friday night's football game at West Laurens. But I'm still using a cane. I don't know if I'd be able to park close enough to get inside. Don't know if there'd be room for my chair. I know my back wouldn't let me sit in the bleaches for the entire game. What I'm trying to say is I'd want to go but don't know how to work it out. If you have any ideas, please share.
