Future of rec. department to be discussed at city council meeting.

Though the rec. department plans to hold opening day games this weekend, there are some on city council who think they didn't have the right to reopen in the first place.

Cochran Speedway to hold races without fans this weekend.

Cochran Motor Speedway will be holding races May 23 and 24. A post on their website states spectators will not be allowed, only drivers and a maximum of 10 crew members in attendance. Racers will also be asked to stay in their vehicles until asked to exit to the pit gate window. Fans can watch both days races online at speed51.com

Called city council meeting Thursday.

Cochran city council will hold a called meeting Thursday at 6:30 pm in the city auditorium. It will again be closed to the public but available via gotomeeting.com using access code 907-562-269. You can also listen to the meeting by calling 646-749-3122 and use the same code.

BCHS to limit attendance at graduation.

Bleckley County High School announced details for graduation which will be held June 13. Among them is social distancing for graduates, and limiting attendance to those who receive one of the four tickets that will be given to each student.

Changes at the rec. department as teams get ready to play.



The Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department officially opened for practice Saturday. Teams were there Monday night preparing for opening games this weekend. Several changes were evident. Signs reminding people to social distance. All bleachers had been removed. The playground roped off to prevent children from playing on it. Softball and T-Ball opening games are Friday night at 6 pm. Baseball will be Saturday morning starting at 10 am.
