News from Bleckley FCCLA.

(Courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) Bleckley FCCLA traveled to Covington November 5-6 for Fall Leadership Conference. Students had the opportunity to explore leadership skills, network with other members from the state and compete in events. Those events were membership recruitment, T-Shirt design, and pin design. Pictured are members who attended Sarah Harbin, Trinity Johnson, Katie Burke, and Breanna Arnold.
Students at BCHS also recently participated in the Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program, sponsored by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. Terri Edge from UGA Extension led each educational session which covered topics such as portion size, meal planning and staying physically active. At the end of each session, students were given tools to help them practice what they’d learned (IE: two cutting boards the day they learned about the importance of using separate cutting boards for different food groups. Upon completion of the program, students received a certificate. Pictured is Tien Doan, one of 24 students to participate, with Edge (left) and FCCLA advisor Sheryl Parks (right.)
